How much does land clearing cost in Liberty Hill?
Land clearing in Liberty Hill costs $2,000 – $4,000 per acre, with a $1,000 minimum job and free on-site estimates.
Where your property falls in that range comes down to these factors:
Acreage
Larger properties generally require more time, labor, and equipment, affecting the overall project scope.
Tree Density
Properties with dense trees, thick brush, or heavy vegetation typically require more work than lightly wooded land.
Terrain
Steep slopes, rocky ground, creeks, and uneven terrain can increase the complexity of a land clearing project.
Property Access
Limited access, narrow gates, or difficult terrain may require specialized equipment or additional planning.
Rock & Obstacles
Large rocks, boulders, existing structures, and buried debris can add time and equipment requirements.
Stump Removal
Removing stumps and root systems creates a build-ready site but requires more work than clearing vegetation alone.
Debris Disposal
Debris can be mulched, piled, hauled away, or processed depending on your project's goals and site conditions.
Desired Finish
Whether you need selective clearing, a clean homesite, pasture restoration, or a completely build-ready property will influence the scope of work.
How long does land clearing take in Liberty Hill, and what's the process?
Land clearing in Liberty Hill typically covers 6–7 acres per day in light brush, 5–6 acres per day in medium brush, and 4–5 acres per day in thick cedar with our excavator. Acres per day depend on ground conditions and terrain.

Liberty Hill's Unique Land Clearing Challenges
Liberty Hill is western Williamson County ranch country: rolling Hill Country with open ranchland, hills and creek valleys between the North and South Forks of the San Gabriel River. The soil runs from clay-rich ground to shallow, rocky limestone soil, with more limestone west of the Balcones Fault Zone and deeper clay toward the east.
Cedar (Ashe juniper), live oak and mesquite are the main trees, with native grasses and mixed brush in between. New homesites and subdivision lots sit right next to working ranches. Liberty Hill is about 11 miles from our base in Bertram.
A typical Liberty Hill land clearing job for us is getting a homesite or subdivision lot open: cedar out from under the oaks, dead trees down, and the loose rock picked up so the ground is ready for what comes next.

Our Work in Liberty Hill
Most of our Liberty Hill land clearing is opening up homesites, subdivision lots, and larger ranches. A lot of that work is clearing cedar out from under the oaks. With less competition for water, the oaks have a better chance of making it through the next drought, and the property looks a lot better too. We also take out dead trees, whether they died in a drought or from disease. Oak wilt and Hypoxylon canker are both common across Liberty Hill and Central Texas.
When we clear land, pulling out the trees often brings rock up to the surface with the roots. Most of the rock in Liberty Hill is loose, so it comes out fast. After clearing, we run our Harley rake over the ground to level it out and pick up the leftover debris and rock, leaving a clean, smooth finish.
On one 4.1-acre Liberty Hill property, we cleared the rock and dead trees, hauled off 12 loads of debris, spread 10 loads of dirt, and seeded the whole property with native grass so it could be used as pasture. See the full project

“On time, hard-working, nonstop, knowledgeable, easy to work with, generous, first responder supportive, like-minded, honest, good people, outstanding equipment, top-tier service, went out of their way multiple times to make sure my wife and I were satisfied in a patient manner. All around great people and land clearing company I see sky rocketing. More than fair prices for services. My wife and I recently bought 5 acres in Bertram, Texas. We found Grounded Land Services and gave them a try. Man are we glad we did. They were able to mow down giant cedar brush piles that had been there for at least 15 years down to nothing, worked all day and then some to get the job done and went out of their way to do a little extra on the house. These guys have been nothing short of amazing to work with — we sat in lawn chairs and watched them work meticulously yet efficiently. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing absolutely any sort of land clearing needed. 10/10 five star crew and business.”

Should I choose land clearing or forestry mulching?
Choose traditional land clearing when you need bare, stump-free ground for a home, driveway, building pad, or septic system. Choose forestry mulching when you want to keep the good trees, skip the burn piles and hauling, and leave a layer of mulch that protects the soil.
Traditional Land Clearing
- Removes trees, brush, stumps, and root systems
- Creates a build-ready site
- Best for construction and development
- Ideal for home sites and commercial projects
- Allows grading and excavation to begin
- Produces a completely cleared property
- Removes heavy vegetation permanently
Forestry Mulching
- Grinds brush and small trees into mulch
- Leaves the existing root systems in place
- Best for property maintenance
- Ideal for ranches, hunting properties, and recreational land
- Minimal ground disturbance
- Leaves a natural layer of protective mulch
- Excellent for controlling invasive brush

Liberty Hill Landowner Questions
It can. The golden-cheeked warbler is an endangered songbird that nests in Hill Country cedar (Ashe juniper) and oak woodland. On a cedar job in Jonestown, we waited until the warbler nesting season (March 1 – September 1) was over before we started clearing. We've also completed refuge work timed around warbler nesting season: a 5-mile fire break on the Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge for the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, finished in February 2026 before nesting season began March 1. We can't tell you whether your property needs a federal permit. If your land has mature cedar-oak woodland, check with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service before you clear.

Changing, removing or treating a tree the city has designated as a heritage tree takes a Heritage Tree Permit from the Planning Department. The Planning Director or a designee inspects the tree and approves or denies the request within 10 business days of a complete application.
City of Liberty Hill: Heritage Tree PermitTexas A&M Forest Service advises against pruning or wounding oaks from February through June, when the beetles that spread oak wilt are most active, and recommends painting any fresh oak wound right away, any time of year. It lists land and cedar clearing as one source of those wounds.
Texas A&M Forest Service: preventing oak wiltIn our experience, the rock on Liberty Hill homesites, subdivision lots and ranches is usually loose. Solid limestone shelf mostly shows up only when a job calls for excavating. Rock removal costs $2,000 – $4,000 per acre, and the site visit is free.
